About Second Star
Second Star to the Right is a Children’s and Young Adult book and toy store located in Denver. We offer a wide variety of the newest releases, and even your own childhood favorites in board books all the way to young adult novels. Adult books, parenting and a selection of books in Spanish are among our other book offerings. We are Colorado proud and carry a selection of parenting, and gift items local to Colorado companies.
In addition to our wide selection of books, we also offer a fun assortment of toys that kids and adults alike can enjoy. Our selection includes educational and sustainable toys, and dress up items that inspire imaginative play.
Owned and operated by former teachers, all of Second Star’s staff members are knowledgeable about the many titles in the store and are happy to recommend the perfect book or gift for the lucky reader in your life. We pride ourselves on assisting our customers and welcome any ideas or suggestions you may have to better address your needs. In this digital world, we hope to help keep children with their arms around books and ears listening to the magic of stories.
Our bookstore seeks to embrace the entire Colorado community of readers, dreamers and believers and will hopefully become a part of your everyday life. Be sure to stay up to date on all of our author visits, special events and themed storytimes by viewing our Event Calendar! All are always welcome at Second Star, and we hope to have you join us for a storytime. We look forward to seeing and meeting you very soon!

We were elementary school teachers for twelve years, but are now happily sharing our love for books with the community. We have four adult children of our own whom you may see in and out of the store.
We are passionate about reading! We believe that there aren’t any kids who don’t like to read, but only kids who haven’t been introduced to the kinds of books that speak to them! We are eager to help with that journey of exploration.
Second Star to the Right recognizes and actively promotes the principles of fairness, equality, and social justice in relation to race, ethnicity, age, disability, faith, national origin or ancestry, citizenship, socio-economic class, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and all other identities represented
among our diverse community.
We appreciate the importance of inclusion, in the belief that the individual and collective skills, talents, and perspectives of our constituents foster a culture of belonging, innovation, collaboration, and mutual respect. Furthermore, we seek to empower and engage our community in actions that contribute to the well-being of each individual and the group as a whole.
Today we came for storytime with Belle. It was my first time and it certainly won't be the last. The staff were all amazing. Marc went above and beyond, though. He offered a ton of great suggestions and took my daughter out front to play with sidewalk chalk while I payed. I rarely leave reviews but this place was fantastic!
