Drag Queen Storytime
An entertaining hour featuring The Glamoure Family singing, reading and posing for photos. An interactive experience for children of all ages and worth the trip for adults as well! All proceeds are split between The Center and the performing artists.
Drag King Storytime
Introduced to Second Star by our long-time favorite Drag Queen, The Glamoure Family, we are proud to present the Mile High Kingdom, Denver's first Drag King storytime. The Kings put on a performance that's not to be missed including choreographed singing and dancing numbers, solo songs, crowd participation acts and, of course, time for a story or two. Join us in welcoming the Mile High Kingdom to our regularly featured events!
Dancing Princesses Storytime
Dancing Princess LLC hosted some of our most popular storytimes at our original Tennyson location. We're so excited to be bringing them along to our new location on South Pearl Street - where all children are invited to dress up in their most royal garb and dance along!
Art Storytime
Join our painter, artist storyteller Kate and read stories about colors, shapes, art and have some fun making your own art project to take home!
Social Justice Storytime
Every social justice story time combines books, songs, crafts, and discussion to support families taking action. People of all ages are welcome. Most books are in the elementary school reading range.
Storytime with our Booksellers
Join our talented staff as they read their favorite books & share their skills and hobbies through a kid-friendly activity! Gardening, Art, Science, Spanish-Language storytimes & more are all led by our booksellers!
Reading with River
Why Read to River?
Many studies have shown that reading to dogs is a great way to improve self-confidence and public speaking skills. Reading to a dog provides an opportunity to speak out loud and practice pronunciation without the judgment of human listeners.
Our licensed Special Education teacher, Alethea, with her therapy dog River, will be present to assist with reading skills and confidence building.
Whether you are looking to practice a class presentation, or just need to build confidence in your voice, River is the perfect listener. Sign up to Read with River on his next visit HERE
